In the Planked Mechanical series I am developing wooden "animations" that are hand-cranked by the participant to reveal unexpected links between unrelated objects and generally befuddle our expectations. The point is to try to capture the often embarassing moment when you realise your assumptions about someone else (or an entire culture) are dead wrong and that you're an idiot.
